Oasis star’s mum wanted son to be a priest

Former Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has revealed that it was his mother’s wish for him to become a Catholic priest.

One of the founder members of the Manchester rock band, which also included brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Arthurs, who was educated at St Peter’s RC Grammar School – now St Monica’s – also told Clint Boon’s Humans of XS Manchester podcast that his mother also wanted him to be the priest who buried her.

“My mum had secret ambitions that I was going to grow up and become a Roman Catholic priest,” Arthurs told the podcast.

Explaining that he came from an Irish Catholic family, Arthurs added: “The plan was, that when she died, I was going to be the priest that buried her.”
