Rare Celtic Opus up for auction at SCIAF gala dinner

One of only 500 special edition Celtic Opus’ will go under the hammer at SCIAF’s first ever Gala Dinner to raise money to help some of the poorest people in the world.

The giant publication tells the inside story of Celtic FC from its foundation in 1888, via Jock Stein’s heroes of 1967, to the modern-day successes of Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan.

More than four years in the making, this monumental volume takes the viewer on a journey way beyond the scope of previous history books on the club.

An array of brilliant writers, photographers, illustrators and artists combine to highlight the key strands of the club’s DNA which make Celtic a unique football institution. This Official Celtic Opus European Champions Edition – numbered 348 out of 500 – contains the signatures of all living members of the legendary squad that conquered Europe in 1967.

The auction will be part of SCIAF’s first Gala Dinner, to be held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 4th November. The evening will include music, dancing, a wonderful three course meal, raffles and auction. Other items up for auction include limited edition John Bellany prints.

The evening will be a great opportunity for people to come together to celebrate the millions of lives they’ve changed through their support of SCIAF over the years, as well as reflect on what more can be done to help people in need survive and thrive.

SCIAF’s Director Alistair Dutton recently had his picture taken with the Celtic Opus in the charity’s office.

A limited number of tickets for the evening are available but are being sold on a first come, first serve basis. For tickets or more information, contact Teresa McGoldrick at SCIAF on 0141 354 5555 or email tmcgoldrick@sciaf.org.uk.
