Thai Children’s Trust UK – the Catholic-inspired charity from its inception over 30 years ago – is to be the lucky recipient of the proceeds of an exclusive auctioned Leicester City shirt for its ‘Rice Bucket Challenge’ – a campaign to provide nutritious meals to hungry and malnourished youngsters in the migrant homes and orphanages supported by the charity.
Off the back of Leicester City’s incredible Premier League triumph, Thaikhun, the Thai street food concept restaurant, has partnered with Singha Beer to auction an exclusive signed shirt from the 2015/16 Champions for the benefit of its chosen charity.
Thanks to Givergy, an online platform that helps charities to raise money, interested parties will be able to bid for the shirt – signed by all the team, including record breaking striker Jamie Vardy and team captain Wes Morgan.
The online auction is now live with bidders having until 23rd May to stake their claim to the shirt by visiting: givergy.com/listing/thai-childrens-trust/signed-leicester-city-football-shirt
The auction forms part of Thaikun’s annual charitable activity, with the restaurant aiming to raise £50,000 for Thai Children’s Trust ‘Rice Bucket Challenge’ through a variety of fundraising activities involving customers, staff and their friends and family.
For example, Thaikhun is donating 5p for every portion of jasmine rice sold in its restaurants, which saw the restaurant raise over £1,000 throughout April alone.
Thai Children’s Trust supports orphans, refugee and disadvantaged children and vulnerable women in Thailand and is a charity close to the heart of Thaikhun’s joint owner Kim Kaewkraikhot.
“We are so excited to team up with Givergy and Singha Beer to auction off the Champion’s shirt for such an incredible cause,” said Ms Kaewkraikhot. “Thai Children’s Trust do fantastic work and is a charity I am hugely passionate about. Leicester City’s Premier League victory this month has created a huge buzz about the auction, and we’re delighted to be able to offer this fantastic auction item. The auction comes at an exciting time for Thaikhun as we look forward to opening our first site in Leicester later this year.”
